Little Johnny

Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. "Why do you do that, mommy?" he asked. "To make myself beautiful," said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue. "What's the matter?" asked Little Johnny. "Giving up?"

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said,
"Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?" Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, FOX, ESPN and the Cartoon Network!"

Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes," said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him." Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"

Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Johnny asked, "Dad, why are you doing that?" His father replied, "Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Johnny, looking worried, said, "Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom."

If this brightened your day, don't let it stop here. Pass it on with a smile... Keep spreading the cheer! Pass on to your friends! They like Johnny too ya know!
music review
kshay Kumar has reached a stage where currently Shah Rukh Khan is. No matter who is his leading lady, no matter which production house he works with, no matter what the film's genre is, no matter who directs the film and no matter who composes for his films - the fact remains that he is audience's darling and would hit gold in each of his films. His great run in last few years is a testimony to that!
This is the reason why even with names like Anees Bazmee (No Entry), Firoz Nadiadwala (Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri), Anil Kapoor, Firoz Khan, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat involved, Welcome would go down as an Akshay Kumar release. With multiple composers like Anand Raaj Anand, Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid involved, it only promises to be an added advantage. However, in case of Welcome, it turns out to be a major disadvantage as the music turns out to be way below the mark.
The start of the album is good. Bring out the trumpets and lay down the red carpet - the celebrations have begun and party is on with the arrival of title song 'Welcome'. The music has a distinct David Dhawan touch to it with the title song of Partner (composed by Sajid-Wajid again) coming closest. Composed as a Western track with a distinct party feel to it, 'Welcome' is a high on orchestra number which has Wajid giving a voiceover and Shaan and Soumya Raoh pairing up to croon the major part of the song. Even though the intermediate portions of the number aren't any great shakes as they turn out to be a routine fare, the music woven around the opening lines if a killer and ensures that there is no dull moment.
It's fast becoming a trend (a healthy one though) to see one composer crooning for a fellow composer. Vishal Dadlani has been doing it for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Anand Raaj Anand has done it for Pritam, Shankar Mahadevan has done this for Vishal-Shekhar and others and now he has done it again for Anand Raaj Anand for the number 'Hoth Rasiley'. Surprisingly, the song turns out to be very ordinary as it is excess of sound and fury which kills the impact.
The tune takes numerous twists and turns and a minute into the song, one tends to loose interest into the proceedings. Shankar comes along with Anand Raaj Anand and Shreya Ghoshal to croon this celebration number with an extremely loud Punjabi celebration setting to it. The only thing which can save the number from being a total disappointment is it's picturisation/choreograph y which may be done in a comic setting.
With Anand Raaj Anand playing the dual role of a composer as well as a singer for this song with Shweta Pandit joining in, 'Tera Sarafa' again belongs completely to the David Dhawan school of music. Nothing surprising here since Anees Bazmee has been a script/screenplay writer for numerous Dhawan movies in the past.
Coming back to the song, 'Tera Sarafa' again follows an unapologetic 'masti-dhamaal' mode with a focus mainly on getting foot tapping beats and keeping the heat on for fast paced proceedings. The USP of the song is Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar shaking a leg with Mallika Sherawat, though one wonders if the song would have gone any further distance if not for this unique pairing! Ultimately 'Tera Sarafa' is the kind which is heard today, enjoyed mainly due to choreography and forgotten the moment film is off the screens!
Oops, now what's that!? By the time an elaborate 30 second saxophone piece is through and one settles down to hear something soothing, the 90s style arrangements start scaring a listener. If this is not enough, what follows next truly catches you by surprise as Himesh Reshammiya (doubling up as a composer and singer) croons the word 'Insha Allah' in the highest possible pitch!
Heavy arrangements, as has been the hallmark of the album so far, doesn't spare a listener here as well even as Shaan and Akruti Kakkar come together with Krishna to croon some of the most ordinary/pedestrian lyrics from a music album of 2007. Just hear this one - 'Ab Jism o Jaan Mein, Dil Ke Jahaan Mein, Hai Tera Welcome, Aa Bhi Jaa'! Aided by 'dhol' beats, 'Insha Allah' turns out to be a routine 'masala' number which work more visually (that too due to Akshay's presence) than audio-wise!
'Kola Laka Vellari' - Now this is yet another number where one exclaims - Oops, now what's that!? Frankly, one can't actually comprehend what exactly 'Kola Laka Vellari' stands for. In fact even Google doesn't! The only good thing about this song is that Himesh Reshammiya is far subdued while crooning this one. A moderately paced song, the song has a mix of Western and Indian arrangements though in a trademark Reshammiya setting that made him a household name in last couple of years. A love song with sad undertones to it, 'Kola Laka Vellari' is barely decent but that's about it.
Anand Raaj Anand returns after a couple of tunes by Himesh Reshammiya and creates 'Uncha Lamba', the opening tune of which lifts has it's references in 'Makhna' [Bade Miyan Chote Miyan]. A number which could well find references in number of Punjabi-fusion-folk tracks, 'Uncha Lamba' has predominant Western arrangements which go well with the current on-screen image of Akshay Kumar. With Kalpana as his duet partner, Anand Raaj Anand gets into a romantic mode with this yet another 'masala' track which barely sustains itself for the situation and that's about it.
With great power comes great responsibilities - This can well be true for Akshay Kumar now as well! As mentioned at the very beginning, any film starring Akshay Kumar today is THE Akshay Kumar film. Whatever good or bad, it is attributed mainly to the superstar than anyone else. This is why even the music of Welcome, which is extremely ordinary in any case, will be termed as nothing less than disappointing due to high standards set for an Akshay Kumar film. Though thankfully the film seems to be highly interesting, Akshay fans would have to wait for Tashan and Singh Is Kinng in anticipation of some good music.
Video games
The Granddaddy of the first videogame was Pong. Pong was developed by a gentleman named William Higinbotham while working for a US nuclear lab in NY. Pong was a simple tennis game controlled by two dials. Come on - we all played Pong at least once! Called Tennis for Two by the creators, Pong debuted in 1958 a Brookhaven gymnasium. The outright fun of the game and the curiosity factor helped start the video game industry.
The second Major development in Video gaming came when in 1961 a group of students from M.I.T. developed a game called spacewar. The group went on to develop spacewars into the first interactive video game. Who remembers the game Space Invaders? You know - the game where you shoot the downward moving aliens. Well, do you know it was based on Spacewars? Spacewars was a huge hit with the faculty at colleges and universities around the country. These universities used a little know technology to transfer and share the program called ARPAnet, which would soon be referred to as the Internet. No one could have envisions 40s years laters video games such as Xbox and Playstation 2 would be in the majority of livings rooms in the United States.
The major downside of the Spacewars game was that it took a computer the size of a large refrigerator and a cost of over one hundred and twenty thousand dollars to run it. This would change over the next decade as prices on hardware reduced substantially.
Pong would again later in history play a major part in the adoption of video games and consoles when in 1974 when Atari employees Harold Lee and Bob Brown come up with the idea of a home based system for pong. The idea took a while to sell but in 1975 they finally convinced Sears to purchase one hundred and fifty thousand units. The Pong game and control panel is labeled under the Sears “telegames” label and is a massive success. The video game was finally in the consumers’ hands and it could be easily hooked up to any current day television with ease.
Today popular video games include Xbox and playstation 2. Video gaming sales have surpassed one billion in sales, we can’t wait to see what the next ten years hold.
First Computer Made
A computer is a machine for manipulating data according to a list of instructions and can take on many physical forms. In 1837, Charles Babbage was the first to conceptualize and design a fully programmable mechanical computer that he called “The Analytical Engine”. Due to limited finance, and an inability to resist tinkering with the design, Babbage never actually built his Analytical Engine. In 1941, Konrad Zuse's electromechanical “Z machines,” the Z3, was the first working machine featuring binary arithmetic, including floating point arithmetic and a measure of programmability. Later on in the year 1998 the Z3 was proved to be Turing complete, therefore being declared the world's first operational computer. In addition to being the designer of the first computer made, Zuse founded the first computer startup company in 1946. This company then went on to build the Z4, which became the first commercial computer, which was leased to ETH Zürich in 1950. Due to the circumstances of World War II, however, Zuse's work initially went largely unnoticed in the United Kingdom and the United States. It is possible his first documented influence on a US company was IBM's 1946 option on his patents.
The Atanasoff-Berry Computer also came out in the same year as the first computer made. The Atanasoff-berry used vacuum tube based computation, binary numbers, and regenerative capacitor memory. Three years later the secret British Colossus computer hit the scene. This computer, which had limited programmability but at the same time still demonstrated that a device using thousands of tubes could be reasonably reliable and electronically reprogrammable. It was used during World War II to break German wartime codes. The Harvard Mark I came out the same year as the British Colossus, it is a large-scale electromechanical computer with limited programmability. Then two years later came the US Army's Ballistics Research Laboratory ENIAC, which used decimal arithmetic. It is considered the first general purpose electronic computer, although it initially had an inflexible architecture which essentially required rewiring to change its programming. Throughout the years computers have advanced so far ahead of the first computer made. These days you can do just about anything on your computer, same even find a time without computers next to impossible to fathom.
Cheap Computer Parts
When the first computer was created it was used for governmental agencies. Many years later the inventors of the computer found ways to downsize particular pieces of the computer so it would be acceptable in home use. This home-use computer was dubbed the personal computer. Although it wouldn't be until years later that the personal computer would hit the fore front of the technical area. This length in the time between the popularity of the personal computer was largely the inability to access cheap computer parts. Parts for the computer were very expensive and far and few between in the beginning. This changed the economy of the computer few parts meant that prices were higher it's all supply and demand. It wasn't until computer companies began mass producing parts that cheap computer parts were available to the public in the early nineteen nineties.
With this ability to create a mass number of computer parts, people in the personal sector were given access to cheap computer parts. In more recent times with the addition of internet marketing, cheap computer parts can now be bought over the web from a various amount of web sites. Cheap computer parts can save someone money if they are piecing together their own personal computer. Refurbished computer piece are a good source to buy cheap computer parts for your custom personal computer. Just make sure on what is compatible with your computer's mother board because not all cheap computer parts are made to go with all other parts and therefore must be check for compatibility. Cheap computer parts marked a new revolution in the computer world once where computers could only be utilized by the government and the wealthy of the nation are now available to all mainly in part by the manufacturing of cheap computer parts being made and easily accessed.
The History of Santa Claus
Santa Claus, also referred to as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, and Kris Kringle, has existed as a fictional character of Christmas for some centuries now. The History of Santa Claus goes back even to 16th to 17th century England and America, Where the Protestants and Puritans condemned Santa Claus as displaying Pagan or Roman Catholic traditions. Since then Santa Claus has found his way into the hearts of young and old in celebrating the Christmas tradition. Many rituals have developed in the History of Santa Claus. The general belief of the masses is that Santa Claus, a resident of the cold and snowy North Pole, prepares for Christmas all year long with the help of many little elves in his toy factory. On the eve of Christmas he boards a sleigh, holding a bag of toys for all the good little boys and girls, which is pulled by eight tiny reindeers. Some even believe there to be a ninth reindeer, but that would lead to the legend of Rudolph.
The History of Santa Claus then states that he proceeds to travel the lengths of the world in one night, delivering the toys by slipping down ones chimney and leaving them under the Christmas tree. This has presented much query among children in that Santa Claus is rumored to be overweight, so how does he squeeze down that chimney? To add gas to that questions fire, each good little boy and girl leaves cookies and milk to appease Mr. Claus. Of course the answer to all questions doubtful of Santa Claus' existence, is that he is magical and mysterious. That reason has kept mothers and fathers all over the world creating his image and presenting it to their Children, often times to be used as a tool to keep children on their best behavior all year long. For one does not desire to be a name on Mr. Claus' naughty list, the long history of Santa Claus and his lump of coal make this apparent.
